Main Sidebar Duplicating

    Hi Anthony,
    Love the theme I am using it on 20+ sites, a big thank you!
    I have an issue whenever I use the main sidebar and the page Sidebar, blog sidebar or single post sidebar – the widgets listed in the main sidebar display before those listed in the page, blog or single post sidebar. Unfortunately, I don’t have a public site I can direct you to at the moment.

    When all 4 widget areas have widgets in them and I visit a single page, an archive page or a single post I see the main sidebar widgets and then the widgets for the respective sidebar area. This does not impact the home page.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thanks! I’m glad you’ve found the theme so useful. That’s great to hear and I appreciate the kind words.

    If I’m understanding you correctly, this seems to be working as it was intended.

    Any widgets in the ‘Main Sidebar’ will appear on all posts and pages (except the optional Homepage template, which has its own widgets)

    Any widgets in the ‘Blog Sidebar’ will appear in the sidebar on the blog and archive pages only (underneath the Main Sidebar widgets)

    Any widgets in the ‘Single Post Sidebar’ will appear in the sidebar on single posts only (underneath the Main Sidebar widgets)

    Any widgets in the ‘Page Sidebar’ will appear in the sidebar on pages only (underneath the Main Sidebar widgets)

    This allows you to include widgets only on certain pages such as on the Single Post page, for example.

    If you simply want the same widgets to appear in all your sidebars, just add them to the ‘Main Sidebar’ and forget about the other sidebars.

    If you want certain widgets to display on the blog archive page and different ones to appear on the Single Post page, that’s when you’d use a combination of the other sidebar areas.

    I hope this has clarified things.

    OK, thank you for the clarification, this makes sense. How would I go about changing the order of the sidebars so the main sidebar renders below the page specific widgets. So the page, post or archive widgets load above the main sidebar widgets?

    If you wish to change the order, you can do that easily within sidebar.php.
