Maintenance always switched ON…

I downloaded the Maintenance plugin and it worked fine for several days. However today i switched OFF the Maintenance mode, but when I access my website I still see the maintenance mode switched ON.
Even after I deactivated the plugin or even deleted the plugin, the Maintenance mode is still switched ON…
What’s going on and how to solve this issue?
