I am not sure if I get this right. I am guessing that when you’re logged into your WordPress and turn on the maintenance mode with “Enable FrontEnd Maintenance Mode” checked, then you can work on your website and view your front-end as normal.

But visitors will see your maintenance page. Am I correct?

I have done that but I also get the maintenance page too when I visit my website while logged in still.

I added my ip to “Maintenance Mode IP Address Whitelist Text Box” too and still same issue.

Another weird thing is when I click Preview button the popup page got a 403 error. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

I don’t see anything created in htaccess. I am pretty sure because I do use the custom code feature. I check htaccess often.

    About index.php, I don’t know. I will ask developer.

Ok cool. In any case, if you do run into a problem when you turn off BPS MMode such as MMode does not get turned Off or the Oxygen plugin starts having problems then you would want to repeat the steps that you did before to fix the original problem of BPS MMode not working at all. Possible example scenarios: You turn Off MMode and then deactivate and activate the Oxygen plugin if there is some sort of problem occurring. You deactivate Oxygen plugin, turn On BPS MMode and then activate the Oxygen plugin. ??

So they got back to me.

Oxygen doesn’t modify WordPress core files.

Ok well that answer eliminates one possibility, but does not attempt to answer any other possibilties. ?? When you contacted the Oxygen plugin author regarding the problem with the other Maintenance Mode plugin, the Oxygen plugin author’s response below provides an additional clue to what might be the root cause of the problem. My guess based on what the Oxygen plugin author is saying is that the Oxygen plugin hooks into the WordPress loading process very early right at initialization and will override any/all other plugins unless they also hook into the WordPress loading process very early right at initialization. That would logically explain why you are able to get BPS MMode working by deactivating the Oxygen plugin first. ?? In any case, it sounds like you will just have to do manual steps if/when you want to use BPS MMode – deactivate the Oxygen plugin, turn On BPS MMode and then activate the Oxygen plugin.

I’m not sure if this can be relied on – what if a theme doesn’t have a header, or the user is viewing a page generated by a plugin. He needs to use another action – maybe init.

We can add a check for this issue and display a message to folks for this issue on the BPS MMode page in the next BPS plugin version. What I need from you in order to create that check is the name of the Oxygen plugin’s initialization plugin filename. You can get that info by going to the BPS System Info page > click the Get Plugins List button > post this path info: Oxygen version # – Activated: path to plugin folder/path to plugin filename.php

The message that would be displayed in this check would be something like: “You have the Oxygen plugin installed, which prevents BPS MMode from being successfully turned On while the Oxygen plugin is activated. Please temporarily deactivate the Oxygen plugin, save your MMode settings, turn On MMode and activate your Oxygen plugin again.”

Disregard the request for the Oxygen plugin path info. We found the Oxygen plugin path info via Google. Assuming all questions have been answered – the thread has been resolved. If you have additional questions about this specific thread topic then you can post them at any time. We still receive email notifications when threads have been resolved.

I guess this is still a problem. Yesterday, I had the same issue so I deactivated Oxygen and reactivated it. It took a few times to go back and forward. I ended up deactivated all plugins including BPS. Did all these stuff a few times and finally it work again.

Today, the same issue. But this time it’s not working. I think I will have to find other solutions. I have been fooling around with this too long.

Note: My home ip changed every time that I have this trouble. I don’t have a static ip at home.

Since Oxygen is a site builder/designer then maybe the Oxygen plugin creator(s) would consider creating a maintenance mode/under construction feature in Oxygen. It’s worth asking them if they would add that feature to Oxygen since logically that would make sense for the type of plugin that Oxygen is.

We have copies of all our websites on our Local Development server and do any new website design and backend stuff on our copies of our websites and then upload the new files to our Live sites. So we do not use BPS MMode on our Live sites to do any website design and backend stuff and only use BPS MMode if/when we need to do some quickie maintenance stuff on any of our Live websites.

Or there are lots of other WordPress Maintenance Mode plugins. So I guess try some more maintenance mode plugins and see if you can find one that works with Oxygen. I have a feeling though that due to how Oxygen works and what it does that you will probably run into problems with all other maintenance mode plugins too.

Or maybe ask the Oxygen plugin author(s) if they already have or know of a working maintenance mode plugin or some other manual method that you can use to put your site in an “under construction mode”.

Sorry I forgot to come back to update you. There are a few that I have tested that work. I just was hoping that BPS would work so I don’t have to install another plugin. I am trying to keep my WordPress as light as possible.

So I search for Maintenance plugins that are light-weight. Anyway, I did end up using this one (Maintenance Mode by Web Factory Ltd). It’s working. I don’t know if this is light-weight or not. I guess after I am done with designing or updating then I will uninstall it as there’s no more use for it. I hope it doesn’t leave too much junks in database.

    Again thank you so much.

Our MM is quite lightweight ?? But we have one that’s even lighter – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/under-construction-page/

Cool, thank you. I will try it. Oh by the way, when I deactivate and delete your MM does it leave anything behind or does it clean everything out even the database?

Once removed it deletes all DB entries it creates.
