Majestic SEO is not blocked (though MJ12 is blocked in Stop Bad Bots)

    Hello Bill,

    I was looking at the referring domains of a website of mine in Majestic dashboard today and I found 26 sites of mine listed. But Stop Bad Bots is installed on these websites and it’s blocking MJ12 bot: https://i.imgur.com/3Lufbrm.jpg

    So I see one alternative: either Majestic bypasses these blocks with another bot or there’s a malfunction in Stop Bad Bots and it doesn’t block what it’s supposed to anymore? What do you think?

    Hi Florence,
    A lot of bots use also fake user agent.
    Then, to improve the protection, we began to block also by IP. We created a table named bad Ips and we populate with more than 1.000 bad Ips. We are working to add new bad ips to this table.
    You can also add IPs in your table.

    I noticed that, in the General Settings tab. So we should set all 3 options to Yes and it would fix the issue?

    I’m not sure that Majestic fake bot uses the same IP(s) than their legit one, though. Did you get any information on that point? It’s very annoying, as it endangers our sites network.

    Yes, just mark 3 radio buttons with yes to block.
    Many this bad bots have a lot of IPs. When they use fake or empty user agent, we add them in both table. (by nickname and by IP).
    In fact, their are very annoying. I’m working a lot to block them.
