Working with Slide Anything on multiple sites and all of a sudden the back ends were showing “Sample Slide” instead of the correct text for all my sides. Through process of elimination, I determined it is a conflict with Yoast SEO plugin ver 15.8. Disable Yoast and your slides will come back! Hopefully this saves someone the frustration and panic I just went through and the developers can address the issue.

I had a quick look at the Yoast SEO support page:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordpress-seo/

The whole first page of issues have been reported within the last day or so – so its not just Slide Anything that Yoast is clashing with. The Devs at Yoast are probably having a “fun” time trying to fix the issue and will hopefully get a patch out soon.

Thanks for your post. I am having the same issue.

I just need to remember to disable yoast before working on the slider and reactivate it afterwards or all my content will be deleted in the slider.

Your post probably saved me hours of banging my head against the wall.

Thanks so much for posting. I went into a panic when things suddenly started showing up wonky in SA Sliders backend. Trying to figure out what the issues were, I totally lost all content in one of our carousels before finding this post and disabling Yoast SEO. After doing so, had to recreate that one carousel but was able to make changes as usual in the others.

I unfortunately did the same thing troubleshooting… apparently when you click the checkbox to disable the visual editor, it saves the the slides too. I think as long as you don’t do that or save the slides while it’s in that state, you can safely deactivate yoast, make your changes, then reactivate yoast until the bug is worked out. If anyone else is reading this, don’t click that checkbox!

    Yes davefi,

I just have to remember to disable Yoast before editing the slides or I’ll be reaching for backups.

I hope someone who can fix this is reading this thread.

@davedfi… yep… that’s exactly what I did when I was trying to determine what was causing the problem. As far as turning Yoast on and off while awaiting a fix, I’m not as brave as @spherman so it will remain off for me.

Ok, added a support topic to the Yoast plugin support page to try chase this up – see:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/yoast-seo-conflict-with-slide-anything/

I did also have another play around with Yoast on my test site.
I installed Yoast 15.8 and then disabled everything on the Yoast Settings page to see if it was a particular Yoast feature causing this issue with SA – but unfortunately the issue was still there with all the Yoast features turned off. So just having the Yoast plugin activated causes this issue to occur in the back-end.

ALSO: Trying to debug this myself…
    – When I enable PHP debugging, I do not get any PHP errors popping up when I try edit a SA Slider (so no clue there)
    – I also get no JavaScript errors within the JS console

As a workaround (and I’ve just tested this), the previous version of Yoast (version 15.7) does not cause any issues with Slide Anything.

So you could try installing the previous version of Yoast (15.7) and then wait for the 15.9 version to drop to see if this resolves the issue. If you go to this page:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-seo/advanced/
    1) Scroll down to the bottom where you see ‘Previous Versions’, select version 15.7 and download the ZIP
    2) Deactivate & delete version 15.8 of Yoast within your plugins
    3) Within ‘Plugins’, click on ‘Add New’, then click ‘Upload Plugin’ and upload the ZIP file you downloaded in step 1

So is this a Yoast issue or a Slide Anything issue?

Should we be telling Yoast about this problem?

I am fine with my workaround for now. I can remember. But it would be nice to know when I can stop standing on one foot and clucking like a chicken in order to get it to function properly.

Please update me when this is fixed.

@spherman – well Yoast support has got back to me now and they are looking at the issue: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/yoast-seo-conflict-with-slide-anything/#post-14052728. Hopefully they can shed some light on this because this is affecting quite a few people now.

Ok, I have implemented a solution/workaround for this ‘Yoast SEO’ issue. If you update Slide Anything to the latest release (version 2.3.33), then this issue will be resolved.

View this topic for more information:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/update-resolve-yoast-seo-issue-by-updating-slide-anything-to-latest-version/
Basically the Yoast SEO is clashing with the ‘Preview Slider’ feature within Slide Anything – so I detect whether Yoast SEO is installed on the site and if so then I disable the ‘Preview Slider’ feature.
