Major Gallery Issues

Google Photos cannot work with caching – this is a known issue with its API, and I included a response in the FAQ for this after the question was asked multiple times here. This isn’t an issue with any of the other sources such as Flickr, and Google is unique in this regard because its API returns short-lived URLs. The only way around this is to exclude the affected pages from your caching plugin’s settings.

As for the rest of the items in your video, I will need a live URL to troubleshoot. It is also likely that you have a lazy-loading plugin or script that is preventing a justified grid from showing up in the beginning.

Should I be able to see the galleries on the edit with Elementor page ? I only see the code – it does not populate on the edit page – but works fine when viewed.

While you should be able to see the galleries, the reasons why you cannot may be many.

One possible reason is that I lazy-load scripts. So, a page or post will include Photonic’s JS only if it has a Photonic gallery. Maybe what is happening with the page in Elementor – the scripts are not included by default, so the gallery might not be rendering. Do you see the gallery if you are editing a page with Photonic galleries (instead of creating a gallery in a page with no other galleries)?

Another possibility is that there might be some sort of a JS conflict with a different plugin in the back-end, which is preventing the gallery from rendering. The conflict might not exist on the front-end, which is why things render fine there.

Thanks – I don’t see the galleries at all when editing – just empty boxes and the code on the left of course. Same whether it’s a new page or editing one with galleries on.

That would point to there being a conflict in the back-end either with your theme or with another of your plugins (if you do an F12 in Chrome you might be able to see some JS errors). I can see the gallery alright on my test installation, but that has very few active plugins – Elementor, Photonic and a few other plugins that I have written.

I am marking this issue resolved as there isn’t much I can do for a back-end conflict (and more importantly because the plugins is behaving as it should on the front-end). I could suggest alternatives such as using Gutenberg or the Classic Editor (which show some kind of a placeholder for the gallery), but those obviously will not apply to your case since you are using Elementor.

Unfortunately this is listing out warnings, not errors. Do you know if there are errors as well, here?
