Website went down today. Contacted my hosting service which tracked the issue to a plugin. Deactivated all plugins and one-by-one reactivated them to find the broken plugin.

This is the plugin causing the site to crash. HTTP 500 error. Cannot reactivate the plugin as it’s causing a fatal error.

Please help as soon as possible. eCommerce websites cannot have any downtime, and this plugin is part of the email/invoice process with the sales.

  • I’m not the author, but I can safely say that author will not be able to help you based on your description of the problem. You haven’t provided any details that would help track the problem. There are thousands of users of this plugin and they do not have this issue. You are the only one that has this issue so the more details you provide the better. I would start with:
    1. PHP error log
    2. Contact your hosting service and ask how they tracked the issue and what are their thoughts on this (after all they are the ones getting money from you, not the plugin author)
    3. What hosting service are you using?
    4. What exactly did you do before the problem occured (assuming that plugin was working properly before)
    5. If the problem occured right after updating the plugin, go back to previous version to see if it works. Previous versions can be found here – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-pdf-invoices/developers/

He’s not the only one. Upgrading this plugin (the only upgrade I have performed today) has brought my site down:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare file_get_contents_curl() (previously declared in /home/public_html/example.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-pdf-invoices/functions.php:19) in /home/public_html/example.com/wp-content/themes/function/functions/deprecated.php on line 1571

…I’m using the Function theme from WooThemes which appears to be causing a clash. Probably not the best idea to name a function file_get_contents_curl

I’ve deleted the plugin to get my site back up and running.

    Thanks DW.

I’m working with the developer by email now. I had their plugin off. They had me change WP_DEBUG to true. I activated their plugin and immediately the site went down again. Called HostGator (my web host), and they deactivated all plugins. This allowed me back into the backend, where I have a slew of errors popping up. Also downloaded the error log from CPanel.

Went back in and activated all of my plugins except for this one, and I’m good to go…just cannot activate this plugin again or the site will go down.

To answer #4, I was busy this morning uploaded products into WooCommerce. I was midway through uploading pictures of a product when the site went down. I did not manually update any plugins, but WordPress, Woocommerce, and some plugins update automatically, so I’m thinking maybe that happened.

    Hello,
Please try latest version. Should be fixed.
