• Hello everyone. I’m really hoping I can get some help. I am extremely frustrated. I am self hosting my blog with 1&1 and have had nothing but problems since I started last Sunday. I cannot log in to my administration area using wp-admin and I don’t get and reason just my password disappears and the page remains the same. It does let me in when I use wp-login but yhen I cannot customize my theme. I get the message “session timed out please re log in you will not move from the page” but then it just removes my password again and shows me the log in page again. It’s getting me really angry lol. I have reinstalled wp 3 times and get the same problem.
Thanks in advance for your help

  • Hey timegift,

Sorry to hear about all the trouble. You should contact your web host and see if they can provide any assistance for you. However, if you are not using a “default” theme like Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Twelve or other I would try switching to a base theme and also disabling any plugins if you have added any. Under this senario you are just running a base WordPress install and a WordPress provided theme and no plugins. If everything works then try changing one thing at a time and test again to see if it breaks when it does then you will know what is causing you issue. If you are running a base setup a default theme and no plugins then I would definitely contact your hosting company have have them take a look at what may be going on.

    Hope this is helpful!

i’m guessing it’s a plugin causing the issue…i just had this problem but only in the customizer…so, first if going to default theme and deactivating plugins doesn’t work after you go back to your original theme and activate the plugins again, go to your plugins folder via ftp and rename the folder plugins.hold, refresh your dashboard and see if that fixed it. if it does, then rename the plugins folder back to just plugins. refresh, and if it is giving you the loop again, then it’s one of your plugins causing the error. so then go into the plugins folder and rename the plugins one by one with the .hold until you find the one causing the problem, yeah it’s time consuming but after you find the problem plugin you can inactivate and delete it and reinstall it and it should fix the problem. it worked for me after trying everything else with no luck. i hope it helps.
