MAJOR SQL HELP NEEDED PLEASE

I need major help and I’m not all that familiar with MySql at all, but here’s what is happening and what I’ve done and what I’m trying to do, please bear with me…

I had WP installed on a 1and1.com server and wanted to move to a new server at dreamhost. I exported the entire database from the MyPHPadmin on the 1and1.com server. Then I setup the domain on the Dreamhost server and did the one-click-install of WP. I need to populate the new WP installation with the old posts and comments, etc. Here’s what I’ve tried to no avail so far:

I tried to use the Backup/Restore plugin to export the old SQL and then use it to restore the new one from the old one. No luck.

I tried mirroring the new SQL database to the old one using MyPHPAdmin and then one table at a time importing a text file to populate. These text files are individual table exports from the old SQL database. After each import, the ADMIN told me it was successful. It wasn’t.

Now not only do I still not have any information popluating the site, but the homepage pops up with a search filed right in the middle of the page.

I NEED MAJOR HELP BEFORE MY WIFE KILLS ME FOR MESSING UP ALL HER WRITINGS. IF SOMEONE CAN HELP, I’LL GIVE YOU LOGIN INFO, ETC. I’M WILLING TO BARTER FREELANCE DESIGN WORK FOR HELP ON THIS ISSUE.
