I am using Contact Form 7 and would like to know how to make a label defined on the Form tab locked so it cannot be changed on the Mail form by the user. For example, I want the email sent with a fixed subject and message to a fixed email address. I’m using the form in a widget that shows the label’s values, but they are editable by the user.

I tried to use the “hidden” attribute, but that doesn’t work.

  • Why not just remove the Subject and Message fields from the form altogether, and just hardcode those text strings into the MAIL >> Subject & MAIL >> Message fields?

Thank you. I’m a new user and thought form labels were required in the Mail tab. I now understand that the Form tab’s labels are what is presented to the user to fill in and I can “hard code” the other parts of the Mail form.

No problem. It’s a really versatile contact form, and takes a little while to get to know what can be acheived. The Docs and FAQs are excellent.
