Do not make changes to theme files- you should only make changes in the Custom CSS section of that theme. Otherwise your changes will be lost when the theme is updated.

if you are downloading updates of your theme frequently then you should be making backup for your customized theme files though updating theme does not make any sense to me.. I suggest to make a separate css stylesheet for your customization… im glad it helps.

iahnn – Responsive theme has custom CSS as a built in option – so that is the logical and simplest way to make any CSS changes to that theme. And themes SHOULD be updated whenever an update is available as they may involve compatibility or security issues.

just put
#featured { background: #ff }
in the custom css….

and can u all help me change the text size?

and to leave my slider in the center of the featured area? removing the head and subheadline, content area
