Make my client's premis landing page 100% width

You can do it with CSS but it will need a bit of extra mark up.
Rough guide, I’ll show you how to do the header which will apply to the other elements…

1. change this to -> .premise-theme #wrap {width: 100%;}

2. Then you need to add a new element inside of the divs that need to be 960px – so for example inside .headline-area you will need add an internal wrap so it looks like this…

<div class="new_960_wrap">
EXISTING CODE HERE
</div>
</div>

3. change this to -> .headline-area {width: 100%;}

4. add this rule -> .new_960_wrap {width: 960px; margin: 0 auto;}

…and repeat for all sections. Hope that helps you on your way.

and add a background color to the full width elements

.headline-area {width: 100%; background-color: #2B3338;}

so the black fills out.

Do you know which file I will need to put the new markup in?

you should have a child theme and use the correct file/hook in that.

differs theme to theme.

I’ve done child themes before but only with css.

Unfortunately, the last person to work on the site didn’t do a child theme and altered a lot of files, leaving me to pick up the pieces.

If I update the theme the site falls to bits (really bad practice).

I’m trying to get my client to let me start the site again for me.

I was hoping for someone to tell me exactly how to make the change (sorry)!

Hi Lee – just wanted to say thanks… it worked!!!

It all messed up in safari a bit so i reverted to no 100% for the moment, but I’ve got the concept and i’ll make continuing attempts to get it working.
