Make my site dormant

  • I will cease trading at the end of November 2012 and wish to make my site dormant for a year, during which time I will be redesigning it under a new name. How do I take my site “off the air”

  • The simplest thing to do is delete the site from your hosting account. That way, there will be no way to access any of the content currently available.

    Is that feasible? Do YOU still need access to content as it is now? If so, then move it to a local server or to a host with an unregistered domain name.

    I am like a “babe in the woods” when it comes to this sort of thing, so with some step by step guidance perhaps I may be able to achieve my objective.

    Yes I will need access to the site while it is off the air so how do I move it to a local server. Where do I find a local server. Who do I approach for a local server. Would my ISP be considered my host?
