make shipping a line item

    I am looking for a way to be able to make shipping charges a line item. Not sure if this is possible, perhaps with a plugin/s, or a code snippet, but i’m open to creative ways to accomplish this. I have a very specific use case, where shipping charges need to be communicated via an API that does not support shipping charges.
