Make splash page for home page

  • Hi everyone!
    Im trying to make splash page for my home page where I want to put 3 clickable photos side by side and some text below.
    I found some plugins wich I must say not work good for me. (position of photos are not good, after visiting website you can not return to splash page.)
    I found also one tutorial to make splash.php but unfortunatly I didnt manage to succeed.
    Then I realized that I can also remove header and footer from my home page and get almost blank page, only thing is that is boxed.

    Please give me some advice
