    Hi there,
Bit of a weird one here. I’m looking for ways to make my front page and some other pages not blog format. Like this one for example https://www.lizzyparks.com/

How do I get some pages to be static content with not dates, categories etc displyed?

Also on the right of that page gigs appear on the right and appear to be streamed though from the gigs page.

    Thanks for any help..

    not blog format

You know, I see this term thrown around a lot…

When you are able to tell me what, exactly, “blog format” is, then I’ll be able to answer your question.

However, the basic answer is to make yourself a Page Template: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Pages#Page_Templates , then make a static Page with your content, then go to Settings->Reading and set that as your front page.

Thanks for your help. By blog format I meant chronological, whilst I am aware this is not totally fair it does sum up the majority of blogs in terms of their presentation. Can anyone help a little more specifically on how to remove the date, time, category and author from content written on pages?
    Many Thanks Again

There is no simple answer here. Basically, you’re asking how to modify your theme in a specific way, which is a question that can only be answered by telling you that if you knew how Themes and Templates worked, then you’d already know the answer to the question. Theme editing is not a simple topic to explain, although it’s very simple to actually do.

So, basically you really need to read the documentation, it explains this sort of thing in great detail.

    Start here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Stepping_Into_Templates

    Then understand the Template Hierarchy:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Template_Hierarchy

Finally, read up on Page Templates:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Pages#What_Template_is_used_to_Display_a_Particular_Page.3F

The short version is that you need to make a page template in your theme and then edit it to remove the bits you don’t want displayed. However, how exactly you do that depends greatly on the very specific details of what you want to do. If you read those articles and understand them, hopefully you’ll get it and see what I mean.

Thanks again for your help. I understand theme editing reasonably well. But I don’t have a clue about templates! back to school..
