• Hi, I hope someone can help me!

I have made my first WordPress site (theme Make). I was very proud when I was finished with my website: KOM FOTOGRAFEREN, because I have no knowledge of WordPress and CSS and little of HTML and still the site was working fine. So I thought… until friends told me the menu isn’t working with an iPad. ??

I have search on the internet for a solution. I understand the problem is because the hover function isn’t working on an iPad. There are also codes I found to solve the problem, but my knowledge is too little and I don’t know which code I have to use with theme Make and I don’t even know where to put it (in which file).

The menu seems to work on a Samsung tablet. On my iPhone the responsive mobile menu is working fine. On a desktop PC the menu also works fine.

I don’t want to change the layout or functionality of the devices which are working fine, I only want a working menu on the iPad. I hope one of you can help me in a way that even I can understand it. ??

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Calvin,

    Thanks for your quick response!
I’ve asked my friends again and non of them can use the drop-down menu. ?? It’s tested on 4 iPads, one of them an iPad IV, and one of them an iPad Air with iOS 8.

Hope you know how to solve this.

    Thanks,
    Ellen

    Hey there Wolves,

    Hope you’re well! ??

It still works fine on my end, just so we are on the same page when your friends said that dropdown menu don’t work on their device. On what way? eg. they can open it but can’t click any menu item? they can’t open it at all?

Looking forward for your reply! ??

    Take care,
    Calvin

    Hi Calvin,

They can’t open it at all. Which iPad do you have? Can it be that you have a very new one with better functions??

    Best regards,

    Hi Calvin (or anybody else),

Do you have any idea to solve the problem?

    Thanks again,
    Ellen

Nope, I am using iPad 2.

What is your hosting provider and where are your friends located? It is possible that there is a problem with your hosting provider and your friend’s ISP. I suggest you ask your hosting provider.

Looking forward for your reply! ??

    Take care,

    Hi Calvin,

Thanks for your answer. My Hosting provider is Hosting2Go My friends all living in Holland (so do I). I am not sure which question I have to ask. Sorry. *blush*

    Best regards,

    Ellen

    Hello Ellen,

    Hope you’re well! ??

I asked my co-worker if he can visit your site and he said that the menu is working fine for him. I suggest if you ask also your other friend with iPad or mobile device if the menu works fine with their devices.

    Best Regards,
    Calvin

    Hi Calvin,

There is nothing different in the menu so they still can’t open it. It seem to be a Dutch problem. :-S

    Strange!

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards,

    Ellen

Hello guys, I came across this topic while browsing the support forums.

Wolves – I am seeing the same problem on your site that you describe: when you touch the menu headings – I’m on the home page – nothing happens, ie, the menus do not behave the same as when clicked in my desktop browser.

I’m using Safari on an iPad 3 running latest iOS 8.1.2 installed.

I hope this helps someone work out why you’re having this issue.

PS I’m not in Holland / using a Dutch localisation!

Thank you Daryl to confirm the problem! I hope very much that there is someone who can solve it! Especially now it is not only a Dutch problem. ??

    Best regards,

    Ellen

(to clarify, this is when viewed in landscape – with the top-level menu headings visible. NOT in portrait, as then only the MENU burger is visible.)

    Hi Daryl & Wolves,

Daryl — I appreciate the clarification!

I am able to recreate this on my iPad Air 2 in landscape. I’ll ping the dev team and we’ll see if we can sort this out!
