Making a themes content area wider?

Hi, im currently using this theme. How would I go about making the middle part of the page (where the posts are) wider? I’ve been into the style.css file and tested the results I got from changing every ‘width’ value I could see, one at a time, but none of the changes made the page any wider. Any help would be appreciated.
