• I think it would make WordPress more versatile if all the editors (page/post/comment/theme/plugin) were made plug-able.

    This could be done by modifying the wp editor class to present a basic text area and any necessary framework around it. The same class could provide a basic framework manage what editors were to be available in each area. For example each editor would be wrapped in a class that would register with wp editor.

    The wp editor class could provide filters or methods to insert necessary styles and script for each of the editors. It would provide tabs to facilitate switching from one to another. It would manage auto saving and form submission.

  • Very interesting concept. Hopefully this discussion gets picked up by the big guys. I would be interested in seeing what type of editors were created.
