Making Sure Trackback Works

I just started using WP and so far everything looks great. I have a question about the trackback feature. How can I be sure that it is operating correctly? I’m a novice at this so excuse me if this is a lame question, but when I click on my trackback link, my server reports that the page doesn’t exist.
