My client has a strange problems in post editor. It all seems to be result of one problem but it has several forms. It just came out of blue. No updating, plugin installation or anything else was done. Funny thing is also that it only appears on her computer, not on mine, which ever browser I use. We both have Windows.. She has MS Explorer. Here it is:

    1) Each time she adds a picture (incert/upload media)
the picture goes to the top of the text instead to
    place where the cursor was.
    2) Making a link with the link button on top of the
post edit window does nothing. The dialog opens but
after it does not make the selected text to a link
    3) When she pastes text from MS Word, it crabs also
the formatting but that it never did before!

I can go around all this, no problem, but she is very untechnically oriented person and for her it’s a big headache. Thus I’m not looking for ways to go around the problems, but if anyone knows how to fix it, I would be very thankful..

Have a nice day and thank You for Your help! ??

  • Why is your client using an old copy of WordPress? Is she aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap. As this is such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details.

    Thank you esmi!

This is my first professional WordPress project so far, so somehow I didn’t even think of upgrading before… not too pro, eh..

Need to find some time to upgrade now. What should I know before upgrading? Also my theme needs upgrading. I’m using big bunch of plugins and a child theme which has several template files overwriting the original parent template files. I guess upgrading can nicely brake some of that and then need to fix.. Anything else I need to know?

The page I linked to above should contain everything that you need to carry out the upgrades. I’d also suggest switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins and backing up the database before starting. Then repeat the database backup after every successful upgrade.
