• I am subscribed to the SiteLock site scanner supplied by my web host. The theme andn plugins are all set to auto update. Recently, the scan detected malware which is being reported as connected to files from the Webriti Companion plugin.

    The files involved are :-
    wp-content/plugins/webriti-companion/inc/controls/customizer-alpha-color-picker/8467ae9d

    wp-content/plugins/webriti-companion/inc/controls/flexslider/css/8467ae9d

In both cases its detecting a generic backdoor trojan and cleaning the files.

Are these real, or just false positives ?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for contacting us!

The controls you have mentioned above both are not using in the Busiprof theme so no worries, they are used for other themes.
And if it affects the theme or site, let me know.
Also, check once by removing the blank space at end of the file from the below files:
    webriti-companion/inc/controls/customizer-alpha-color-picker/js/alpha-color-picker.js
    webriti-companion/inc/controls/flexslider/css/flexslider/flexslider.css
    webriti-companion/inc/controls/flexslider/js/flexslider/jquery.flexslider.js

    See the screenshot.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Rishabh. Looking at the screen shot, I do not have an option for “Plugin Editor”. I used to have “wp-file manager”, but removed it as I was getting a lot of security warnings about it.

Is this a plugin I need to install ?

    Andrew

Yes if you want the Homepage sections then you only need to install and activate the plugin otherwise there is no need to install the plugin.

    Thanks

    Rishabh,
I have again received a notification from my site host that malware has been detected on my site. I am a novice at this, and although the malware is being cleaned automatically by the SiteLock addon, I would like to understand how and why this is happening.

As I understand things, the Busiprof theme requires the Webriti Companion plug in if it is to function properly.

Yesterday, malware was detected and cleaned from the Webriti addon. If is possible, or permissible for me to give a dropbox link to the Sitelock log which has the malicious file and the code to see if someone can make semse of what is happening, and why ?

    Thank you
    Andrew
