Malware in WPExplorer Theme

  • I’m noticing malware in the header of my site. Specifically, a link to ed sites — fun times!

    I use iPage to host my WordPress site. I use the Tetris theme from WPExplorer.

    I am preparing myself to tear down everything and start fresh to rid this problem once and for all. I’ve backed up my site just in case (making a note that it’s an infected back up) and will be reinstalling the Tetris theme.

    Wanted to flag this in case anyone else was having issues with iPage and/or WPExplorer. Let me know if there’s anything else to be aware of.

    My name is Melissa and I am the Social Media Manager here at iPage. We’ve been keeping an eye out on the forums to see about assisting customers wherever we can.

    It sounds like you already have this issue diagnosed and know that you’ll need to re-install the theme at a minimum. Please make sure that all account and application related passwords are updated as a precaution. Also, I would not rule out plugins unless you have tested by disabling all of them and the issue persists.
