Mambo2WordPress Import Wizard

  • Anybody using Mambo and WordPress? Mambo is great for setting up a whole website, but if you really wanna blog, then WP is awesome.

    My main website is running on Mambo CMS but for my blog I am using WP. I wanted a way to import entries from my Mambo website into WordPress. I searched the internet and since I didn’t find anything, I wrote my own wizard.

    If it looks familiar, it’s because I started out with the wp install script and worked from there. Hey, no need to improve on a good thing, right? The code is aweful, so feel free to help me clean it up if you want. Feedback is also helpful.

    NOTE: It only works on Mambo databases that use the standard mos_ prefix. If anyone knows how to change this to make it more general (I know it has something to do with a #__ in your queries) then please let me know.

    Not as it is written now, no, but it should be fairly easy to modify it to do the opposite. I’ll you know if I get around to it ??

    I’ve been rewriting this in step with a migration strategy I’m using on a 3rd party web database. I’ve confirmed the Mambo to WordPress functionality works (for 4.5.0.x and 4.5.x)

    The only forseeable issue is the use of category and section under Mambo 4.5.x which remains a different design structure to WordPress. WP to Mambo does require translation and setup of each section and category for a piece of a content to be viewed

    (Mambo is my other, other day job, so I know where the issues lie)

    i get a parse error, when i try to run this script:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/cristof/public_html/wp/export/index.php on line 1

    i am using joomla! 1.0.2 (similar to mambo 4.5.3) and have installed wp 1.5.2

    the joomla-installation is installed in the root folder (/home/cristof/public_html/) and wp in the subfolder /wp/…

    what could be wrong? i tried to edit the paths in the /export/index.php in several ways, but maybe i did that wrong… ??

    can anyone help me?

    p.s.: how about using a more powerful support-forum for www.ads-software.com? smf or any other bulletin board seems to be a good opportunity… the “forum” used here is annoying… ??

    I’m having the same issue as asleif. Any feedback would be very helpful. Is there any chance that this could be a problem with differences between Joomla and WP database, username and password entries?

    I tried streamlining my various databases. Didn’t help.

    My error is the same as asleif’s.

    The script works for me, but it wrangles the German “umlauts”. Any ideas, how that could be fixed? Please?

    Installation is as easy as possible:

    Joomla! Backend use component installer, after successful installation, you can use the Blog directly.

    Most is working well, only some small issues left ( RSS for Comments ), the changes on WordPress are less then possible to keep the Component compatible with the the plugins.

    The different Modules which you can see on the right side will be release tomorrow ??

    hi, everyone!

    well i was just wondering, how to get my old mambo-/joomla!-articles into this great bridge, predator created…

    i am too stupid to edit the importing-script from donkey, so i used a workaround:

    1. install wordpress natively using/creating a second database
    2. run the import-script as described in the provided readme
    3. delete the table “xxx_wp_posts” in your mambo-/joomla!-database unsing phpmyadmin for example (“xxx” stands for your table-prefix, e.g. “mos” or “jos”…)
    4. rename the table “wp_posts” into “xxx_wp_posts” in your wordpress-database
    5. copy it into your mambo-/joomla!-database
    6. delete the native wordpress-installation and its database

    that’s it! ??
    now you can spend hours and days categorizing your old articles in jd-wp-bridge… ??
    (in my case: 196 articles…)

    Hi, is there any SQL-Freak around here who could make the script work for German “Umlauts” (?¤,??,??,??)?

    Curious… Has anyone seen or have available to them an import wizard or have suggestions to import Joomla! 1.0.8 into WordPress 2.0.2? I have between 250 and 300 items to import. Thanks in advance.

    The mambo import tool worked suffiently. I had to go through and redo the categories because the default category did not ‘stick’ with the imports.

    If I edited the post and then saved it (note: nothing was changed) the default category appeared along with the author.

    I was looking for a way to transfer from blogger to my Joomla site. JD Word Press looks great. The only problem is that when I tried to import I ended up with an error message related to line 412 of public_html / components / com_jd-wp / wp-admin /imports.php

    That would not have been a real problem if my blogger site had not also been disabled with a message: Are you looking for Talk About Corruption? It is temporarily out of service. Please try again in a few minutes. Meanwhile, discover a better blogging tool. Directing me to JD WP

    Can anyone guide me out of this mess?
