MAMP Database Stopped working (update_option not working)

    Quick question…

    I’ve been working with WordPress on a local MAMP server on my Mac (Snow Leopard)

    Anyway, yesterday the options page for my install stopped saving correctly.. (the update_option only worked sometimes)

    I thought it was a bug in the code, because nothing was saving.

    So after eight hours of frustration I decided to restart my computer.
    After the restart it was working again…

    Can someone please tell me what would cause something like this to happen?

  • It doesn’t sound like a WordPress problem, more likely a MAMP problem instead. Maybe MySQL Server died in the process.

    Maybe try XAMPP instead.
