    Hi Marco,

I’m building a WordPress site using MAMP Pro 6.
I’ve installed your plugin, however it reports the following …

“Your dev server needs access to NPM 6 or higher to develop React apps”.

MAMP Pro 6 doesn’t come with a Node environment (as far as I know of).

Is there a way I can run Node alongside MAMP Pro for my specific WordPress site?

    Hello Paul,

I don’t know if MAMP Pro allows that. Maybe you can ask their support, it is a paid product after all. Do you use it on a Mac or on Windows?

I use the Bitnami installer for WordPress on Ubuntu. It has access to node from the host machine.

    I’m on Mac.
I did install Bitnami for WordPress as suggested, but it also doesn’t run Node.

I actually found your plugin from the comments in this article on Medium …

However, I had no success with that tutorial/solution either. The React App runs but it will not render inside WordPress.

I’ll send a support ticket to MAMP and see what they say. I really like your plugin! It would be great to be able to use it.

    Hi Paul,

I played around with OSX in a VM. It tried several solutions, including Mamp Pro and it seems to me, that they all don’t have access to Node because they run as administrator – but that is only me guessing, I don’t know much about Macs.

What you could try, is using Laravel Homestead. It is a VM with Ubuntu installed.

Hey Paul, I created a new release that should work better for you.

This release does change the way to use ReactPress and gives you much more control.

It should solve a lot of issues with using ReactPress in local development environments like Local, DevKinsta, and similar.

Nonetheless, backward compatibility should be given.
