• Hi,

I have been using MailPoet the last two years (Premium free license) for a club with between 100 and 200 members.

The GDPR allows the club to send unsolicited email to club members in case there is a legitimate interest. We use MailPoet for this (with, say, mailing list ListA), and there are a few more mailing lists to which people can subscribe if they want (say, ListB and ListC).

On the MailPoet Settings > Basics page we configured the MailPoet Manage Subscription form to show ListB and ListC. Not ListA, because we do not want people to unsubscribe from messages that are important for all club members.

For some time this has been working all right, but that is not the case anymore. Now, if you deselect all list check boxes on the Manage Subscription form and press Save, you get an error message “Please select a list” and the previous settings remain unchanged.

Obviously, changing the user status from Subscribed to Unsubscribed, instead of deselecting all lists, is not a good idea in this case.

This does not seem right to me. I see no reason why you should not be able to unsubscribe for all lists on that form; you can very well have more lists (and Segments) than those specified.

Actually, this seems to be so obvious that I may very well be overlooking some simple solution…

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi @henk-barreveld,

If someone would like to be unsubscribed from all lists, they can change their status to “Unsubscribed” or click on the “Unsubscribe” link from your newsletter.

This way, even if they’re added to a list that is not listed on the Manage Subscription page, they will be removed from all of them.

However, as you’ve mentioned it’s not possible to save the changes if you have all lists unchecked, I discussed it with our devs and we can confirm it’s not the expected behavior. We’re already working on a fix for it, so thanks for raising this issue!

Sure! – but that’s not what I meant. People may want to unsubscribe from all lists they get presented in the Manage Subscription form, but they may need to keep their subscription to other lists which are not on the Manage Subscription form.

Thank you for looking into this. I’m looking forward to the solution!
