Managing and editing metadata of photo's with a group of people

    I would like to ask for some advice on the following matter:
    I am part of a group of friends of about 80 people. During the years we have made a lot of photo’s.. and right now I’m trying to find a way to put the photos online in a sensible way.

    What I am looking for is the following:
    Is there a plugin that would easily let all of us add metadata to the photo?
    For example: In 2003 we went sailing. We made 200 photos. I would like to add on each photo who is on it, the date, the name of the event (“Sailing” and the location. Also the possibility of adding a comment would be great.
    Most important is that all of us can edit this metadata. It’s simply too much for 1 or 2 persons to edit all photos, so a group-effort would be best.
    If possible I would like to manage this information in the EXIF or IPTC-metadata, so that the information is stored also when people use the pictures at home.
    After we edit the photos, it would be nice to have a gallery-plugin that could use the metadata so I could do some specific searches, i.e. Look for all pictures of me sailing. Or look for all pictures with me and a friend on it.
    Anyone got any suggestions on how I could approach this? Is it wise to be looking for a solution using WordPress, or would you advice a different way of solving this?
    What kind of plugins could help me achieve this?
