I am having trouble with the structure of the site. I plan a site with both static and blog pages, different blog pages for news, advice, classifieds, etc. and static pages for welcome, event info…
How do I assign posts to specific pages rather than have them automatically go to a home page (which should be a welcome page, not a blog)?
I tried editing the permalink, but it won’t let me edit where I need to.
There ought to be a “manage” button that lets you slide around page order and attach posts to different pages?

  • Go to settings –> reading and select the page you’d like to display at yourdomain.com. This issue isn’t related to permalinks.

You can view all posts in one category by going to yourdomain.com/category/name of category.

    Thanks
I set my welcome page as home page and assigned my posts to the first blog page, advice. Is it possible to assign different posts to different pages, for example, I have a page of trail news, and trail reviews, and I would like to set up a photo blog and have these interactive.

Yeah that’s possible. Have you assigned the different posts to different categories? If so you could have your menu bar link to the archive of that category. Here’s some info on categories: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Manage_Categories_SubPanel.

I read about the categories but don’t understand how to have certain posts appear on one page and certain posts appear on another page if you can’t associate categories with pages.
