    Hi Malcolm

Is it possible to make it mandatory to provide a contact phone number? Currently the reservation form asks for a phone number, but taking the PayPal checkout path does not.

Yesterday, we had to cancel a performance on the day due to injury, and I needed to contact everyone who had bought tickets for that performance. I emailed them all, of course, but some folk do not check their email constantly so I needed to be able to contact them by phone as well.

Also, we have no need to gather address information for a reservation, so patrons are entering data in five unnecessary fields. Would it be possible to specify the “Contact Details” fields as mandatory/optional/hidden?

    Many thanks,
    Graham

  • Hi Graham,

I hopeIO can help as I had this exact same issue. This is a paypal seller setting and Paypal will not pass the phone number unless required to in your settings.

In paypal go to Profile -> Profile & Settings -> My Selling Preferences -> Website Preferences (Update) -> Contact Telephone Number.

Change this setting from Off (PayPal recommends this option) to On (Required Field).

Paypal should then pass back the telephone number supplied in paypal transactions to Stageshow.

    Hi Chris

Thank you very much for that tip – it was just what I needed! I also discovered some other useful options I could tweak, such as setting the URL for a return page.

    Best regards,
    Graham

    Pleasure.

    Glad I could help.

Apologies for bring up an old post but you said you have a offline booking system which is now tied into stageshowgold via ODBC. I’ve set up something similar but was wondering what you had managed to come up with? Would be great to hear what you’ve done.

    Hi Chris

My offline system is a Microsoft Access application with the data in a SQL Server Express back-end. I used MySQL Workbench to connect to the WordPress database on our site and figure out the schema of the SSG tables. I then added fields to my local tables to hold the corresponding PK values in the SSG tables – for example, my ‘Performances’ table has a field to hold the ‘perfID’ value from the corresponding record in ‘wp_sshow_perfs’.

It’s then just a matter of writing passthrough queries and a couple of stored procedures to import the online bookings into the offline database.

    Cheers,
    Graham

Thanks, guys. I noted that the phone numbers were no longer passing through from PalPal to Stage Show. Somehow it had reset to the default. I fixed it in just a couple of minutes.

    Thank you!
