Whereabouts are you going to make this change?

I want to make the main container 50% transparent throughout the site so that the background can show through slightly

Does Mantra have a “Custom CSS” part of the dashboard?

yes

when I use the inspector it’s identified as ‘forbottom’ but i guess my code is wrong cause it’s not changing the opacity

Are you sure it’s not just “#main”?

i did try that first. So I must be writing my code wrong.
Can you suggest the proper code to accomplish this?

background-color: rgba(255,255,255, 0.5);

That looks fine to me.

Does this add a red border to your site:

body {
 border: 10px solid red !important;
}

?

yes it does

To clarify, what’s the entire style (including the #main bit) you’re using for the rgba?

#main {
background-color: rgba(0,0,0, 0.5);
clear: both;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 0px ;
}
