• Hi all,
I’ve looked in support and still can’t find an answer.
i am helping someone with their website, which was moved from one hosting location to another.

The website itself works, and all external links.
going to all the pages and posts work.
I can log in, and change a few settings, BUT,
    here’s the BIG problem.

When I try and change general settings and save, I get Fatal errors.
When I try and change plugin settings, or edit pages or posts, I get Fatal errors too!. I can’t even add plugins….

    I can errors like this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_unslash() in /home/mindbody/public_html/wp-admin/options.php on line 130

I saw a few tricks, like rename the theme to something else and see what happens: the website is blank, but still get fatal errors.

I resaved the permalinks again as well.
I suspect there is a “root url” issue?

    How can I move forward?

    thank you!!!!

  • Try temporarily deactivating all plugins and switching to a default WP theme such as Twenty Twelve.

Do you still see the errors across your WordPress admin?

If so, try reinstalling the core software through WP-admin –> Dashboard –> Updates

    here’s the thing.
this is someones bread and butter. lol
If i deactivate plugins, then i won’t be able to reactivate them as they are ALL saying “activate”. in other words, the plugins area has the listing of all plugins as not being active! but they are on the website.

So deactivating is a no no for sure!

I have renamed the current theme folder, and then went to the default theme. that still gave me all the errors as well.
i then just simply activated the default theme, and confirmed it worked. BUT, I still got all the “fatal errors” from posts, pages, plugin settings, and adding plugins!

I suspect I may either be missing some files, or there is a “root” folder variable issue going on.

I read that you can manually upload the folders, but which ones?

    well well well!
it seems that it wasn’t a full copy over!
there were some files missing, as I copied the default 3.5 files back onto the website and its all working!!!!

    soo thank you!
