    Hi,

Normally I have the post notif settings on automatically, but in one way or another I had it on manually with my last two posts on my website.

So now there was no notification sent. How can I sent the notifications manually afterwards. The only thing I see at the Manage Post Notifs Sent page is a button “Pause”. So I clicked on this button and now I get the message on this page that both notifications are under consideration (“in behandeling”).

When will the notifications be sent and how can I sent them immediately manually?

    Thanks for the support.

    Regards,

    Theo

  • Hi Devon,

unfortunately I was running into this Issue as well, 1.2 wasn’t working, Pending status is not changing at all, 1.5 is working nicely.

I am running a Root-Server, maybe this could help you debugging 1.2. Just mail me.

    regards ruediger

    Hi Ruediger,

Thanks for chiming in on this topic and offering to help debug this situation!

If you are willing and able to provide more detail here, on this support thread, about the root server you’re running (starting with a literal definition of what a root server is, as well as any potentially relevant configuration details) it may well prove helpful to others experiencing similar challenges with Post Notif v1.2.0 and beyond.

Otherwise, if for some reason you don’t want to share this info publicly, please send me an email (my first name @ devonostendorf.com).

    Thanks,
    Devon

I don’t want to share Version-Details of my Server in public. Thanks for understanding and posting your E-Mail.

    Hi Ruediger,

No problem; I understand and appreciate your willingness to help. I did see your email and will respond to you there.

    Thanks,
    Devon

    Hello all,

I’m encountering this problem as well…I was able to send a test email but the automatic send is still in progress (for two days now)

Not sure if you found a solution with Ruediger’s input and solely discussed it by email. Maybe you can put some light on it, please?

    That would be awesome!
    Thank you!

I wondered as well, what happened with Ruediger. I finally switched to Subscribe2 three months ago. Has way more features than I want, need or can figure out how to use. The first two months I actually had to send out emails to notify people. That was easy enough because the addresses are listed and you just tell it to send the email to all the addresses listed. Finally, this last month it automatically sent out notices. I have kept Post Notif, deactivated because it is simple, easy and just what I want. I am hoping that someone will finally figure out what the issue is.

Hey Barbara, I’ve shared a couple of E-Mails with Devon already. He is going to rewrite the Plugin anyway so he kept my E-Mail for this to test his early version then. He did not give a a time-frame when this is going to happen.

Meanwhile I am using the old version of Postnotif with no problems so far. Just one small thing came across: using WordPress-iOS App I have to schedule the new BlogPost ate least for 5 Minutes, then the Plugin sends out it’s E-Mails, otherwise not.

Thank you for the update! Hoping it will get fixed sooner than later. It fit my needs to a T!

You’re welcome. But tbh I assume Devon is busy with other things in RL, nothing heard from him since then. I wait a little longer then maybe I’ll move to another plugin.

OT: Barbara: URL on your profile is not longer valid?

Devon is probably busy with other things and Post Notif is at the bottom of his list. As I said Subscribe2 seems to work alright, but has too many features that are of no use to me. Thank you for letting me know about the URL. I hadn’t paid any attention. Just went and fixed it. Should be .com now.

[I am hoping the third time is the charm, as continual, erratic power failures this evening have wiped out the first two attempts I made to post this; please cross your fingers that this goes through!]

    Hi all,

You are correct in that real life (work work, family obligations, etc.) has taken me away from the WordPress world for quite awhile. You are also correct that I dropped the ball in returning to tie up this thread, following the email exchange Ruediger and I had, and for that I apologize! I think he summed up quite nicely (and concisely, always a challenge for me personally!) the gist of our exchange (which is the topic of the second paragraph below).

I am strongly considering releasing Post Notif version 1.1.5 as a completely new plugin, to serve as a fallback for those of you who cannot use v1.3.0 (for whatever reason). This plugin would be effectively frozen in amber, changing only in the case of security updates or due to compatibility issues with future WordPress core releases. It would perhaps also make things less annoying for those of you who were totally (or nearly completely?! ?? ) content with the functionality in Post Notif at that time, while sparing you from incessant “there is an update available for this plugin” admin dashboard messages. I’d be curious to hear what you think about this idea.

Additionally, I will be starting this week (at looong last, admittedly!), building an eventual successor to the current (v1.3.0) Post Notif plugin. I have learned a lot in the past years; about what works well, what doesn’t work quite so well, and what things should and shouldn’t be in the plugin’s functionality set. In order to build a new plugin that provides what Post Notif does today, plus more, and with better underlying architecture, that runs under the myriad configurations that admins employing Post Notif appear to use, I will need help from testers (as I’m certain is readily apparent to those of you who cannot use version[s] 1.2.0 and/or 1.3.0!). Once I have the beginnings of something to test, I would sincerely appreciate the involvement of any and all whom are willing and able to help confirm/refute that things are proceeding smoothly. I will post a new thread here in the forum at that time, soliciting your participation.

In the meantime, I continue to appreciate the kind words you’ve said about Post Notif’s usefulness for your purposes, as well as the patience you’ve all shown me as I try to balance my contributions to the terrific WordPress community with the other parts of life!

    Thanks,
    Devon

Glad to hear from you and what is going on. I will gladly help test, although I have and manage my website, I do it with a tiny bit of knowledge on how all this works. I am not into computerese, so that is a drawback for me, but will help as best I can!

Mmm, now I can’t seem to fix my WordPress profile. It keeps coming up .net, even though I changed and saved it as .com.

Nevermind, it was me, I had to log out!

    Hi Devon,

having 1.5 around as long as it works as it is very much Ok with me, especially if you would provide Security Updates for this. tbh it is triggering me pretty much this one tiny “one” update always is available in WordPress-Backend. My Inner-Monk is going nuts because of this. ??

IMHO There is no reason for apologize for anything, especially if RL is kicking in.

Like I wrote before and still I am happy to help debugging your “re-written to be” Plugin.

    have a good one

    ruediger

    @barbara
I would like to drop some words here. It does not need knowledge or special capabilities to test anything because you’re not into the background of programming. I am not in this as well, but I’ve worked in this environment so I am used to get new software and ‘play’ with it.

Maybe it’s not the best idea to do this on a LIVE platform, because if a Plugin is new and ‘untested’ strange things could come up and messing with your Website, although every Author is endeavor to avoid anything of this. But things could happen.
