Many categories issues

My site has 1032 categories. The way to choose the category for author in the plugin is a drop down menu. The thing is that the categories are displays in a small scrolling screen, organized by category ID. That makes
it impossible to navigate for me. What I suggest:

a. Categories should be sorted by ABC.

b. Make the window bigger
