• Let me start by saying I really wanted to love RankMath. I left Yoast SEO because some features were annoying. I did some research and heard “the free version of RankMath provides more than the paid version of Yoast”. That is absolutely not true. Yes, RankMath promises so many features, but they are NOT working, at least not on the free version.

    – First, RankMath did not completely import metadata from Yoast and I spent a full day redoing everything.

    – On the second day of using RankMath, I noticed the snippets are not working properly. Don’t you expect an SEO to do this task at least?? The snippet is showing a black image with incorrect titles and meta descriptions on many social media platforms.

    – Google shows the correct title for the homepage but a description of a random page!!!

    – Their support team only responds to new tickets. They replied to my initial ticket within 8 hours with a solution that was not related to the issue. But after providing more information, they have disappeared and I am waiting for 48 hours and still no response. While they respond to new tickets with general info, they have no solution for older tickets. That is not a 24/7/365 support, as they claim!

    – I read many of their previous responses to support tickets. One of their solutions is to uninstall other plugins because there is one that causes RankMath not working properly. While that might be the case in some situations, should not they actually fix their own codes?

    – After 4 days of nightmare, spending hours and hours on reading their help and fixing issues, and receiving no support for a simple issue, I have decided to remove the RankMath. I am not sure how this plugin has high rankings with so many good reviews! I hope they fix the bugs.

    (@rankmath)

    Hello @apply20

Sorry for the experience you had.

    – Rank Math does import everything from the old SEO plugins. But it seems like a conflict with some other plugin that might have hampered the importing.

    – Again, it seems like a conflict with some other plugin hindering the working of Rank Math. To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

You can follow this video tutorial as well:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

    – 1. First of all, I am assuming that you have already changed the SEO Meta Title and Meta Description with the help of Rank Math:

Add a Meta Description in Classic Editor: https://i.rankmath.com/dhECkg
Add title and description in Gutenberg: https://i.rankmath.com/ZO21Cd

    2. Then, ensure that this is the setting in the Schema tab if the Schema Markup module is enabled on your website:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pG0pcS

To reiterate, the Schema title must show %seo_title% and the description should show %seo_description% – this will ensure your SEO title and SEO Description that you set up via Rank Math can also be used for your schema details:

    3. The next step is to check if your title/description is properly set up in the page source:
    https://i.rankmath.com/HwXR1o

You can use this tool for the same as well: https://www.heymeta.com/

    4. If it matches your settings, then you must check if Google has seen the changes already or not.

For that, please check when the Google cache was updated for that page:
    a. https://i.rankmath.com/9q6X0H
    b. https://i.rankmath.com/R8N0Uh

If the cache date is from before adding the new meta description, then you just have to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index the page with the new info. If the date is after you made the changes, then you just have to wait it out and there is no further input needed from your end.

Do note that if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Here are some of the common reasons Google might not use the meta description you provided:
    – The meta description is not relevant or useful (ie, just a collection of keywords).
    – The exact same meta description is provided across a large number of pages.
    – The meta description doesn’t match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.

There is a whole article dedicated to this on SearchEngineJournal:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-offers-suggestions-for-avoiding-meta-description-rewrites/359884/

Here is an example showing Google changes title depending on the keyword used:

    &
    https://i.rankmath.com/Mrhb0x

The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

    – For the replying on the ticket, that’s not true. Here is the link to your ticket with us:
    https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/snippet-not-showing-correctly/?view=all

Even though it was a weekend, you were getting replies in a timely fashion. Also, as you can notice, we do not discriminate between free & paid users. We tend to help everyone.

We get to every question eventually and tend to resolve all the support tickets we get.

    – Since your problem was unique, reading other replies hardly helps. Troubleshooting could be common but the solution might not always be.

    – We are sorry that you decided to move on to some other SEO plugin. We will take your feedback and try to become better moving forward.

Good luck with your future endevors.
