Thank you for reaching out and explaining the situation.

First, please check if the ‘Grant access to downloadable products after payment’ option is checked in WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Downloadable Products. If it’s not, this might be why most aren’t getting their links.

If that’s all set up right, try this too: look at the order status for the customers who didn’t get their downloads. It should be ‘Completed’ for automatic links. If it’s ‘Pending Payment’ or ‘Processing’, the system won’t send the download just yet.

Do note that making the products virtual and downloadable will skip the “Processing” status and move directly to “Completed”. Kindly check this guide here: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-products/virtual-downloadable/#downloadable-products

i have the proper setup. The “Grant access…” option is properly checked for all downloadable products.

The orders rarely go to Completed, they often go to Processing or to Payment Cancelled even if I have the money deposit on PayPal. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for this. I’ve looked at the documentation and it’s pretty straightforward.

I’m at a loss.

This sounds like a communication issue between your payment method and the WooCommerce.
Have tried using any other payment method than PayPal?

To help you further, I’d like to understand more about your setup.
Could you send me a copy of your site’s System Status Report?
You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

No, I have not tried other payment methods. I wanted to get PayPal working first, plus adding extra payment options would just add variables to debug if things didn’t work.

I suggested using another payment method to determine if this issue is only occurring with the PayPal payment gateway you are using.

It looks like the report did not go through.
