• On my new blog I have dozens of registered users, but few (actually zero) comments. Is this a normal ratio? I have the Akismet Anti-Spam plugin installed if it matters. Thanks.

Here are the plugins I have installed:

    Akismet Anti-Spam (activated)
External Links to New Window (not activated)
    Hello Dolly (not activated)
    Loginizer (activated)
    Theme Check (activated)
    WordPress Importer (not activated)

  • Do you have a relationship with those subscribers? Reach out and ask why no ones commenting.

Also, try going on your site as a different user on a different computer or browser at least.

See if you can comment, if you can’t then you’re probably looking at an issue with a plugin or theme.

Deactivate the plugins one by one and test comments to see if you can debug the situation.

Also, google “how to debug WordPress” to find the WordPress official documentation on debugging. This will give you options when you’re trying to diagnose an issue with your site.

Take a look at the email addresses users have signed up with. You usually can spot a spammy one a mile off.

I created a new user using a different browser and different email address, and was successfully able to comment.

Of the people who registered (almost 100), a lot of them have very random seeming names. I don’t think they’re written in another language. The mail.ru address seems popular too.
