Hi Harriet. Based on your description, I don’t see anything that would necessitate putting the map into an iframe, but that might just be because I don’t understand all of the context.

Are you wanting to put it inside an iframe in order to affect how the page scrolls or something like that?

I ask because putting it inside an iframe would probably require making modifications to your theme so that the URL being embedded into the iframe would only show the map, rather than your entire site. There’s probably an easier way to achieve your goal.

It might help to link to the page so I can see what you’re trying to do.

    Hi Ian

    Thanks for your quick response

I’m in the process of moving my blog to a new theme.. ONE theme.

At the bottom there is the Contact Us map – this is where I would really like to embed the map I have created using google maps placemarks.

But in the customisation settings it just says “Paste iframe code of map for the contact section” and a blank box. I have tried putting the placemarks code in there but it just goes through as text.

    My blog is https://www.anoutdoorlifestyleblog.com

    Thanks so much!

Ah, ok, I see the problem now. The theme is assuming that you’ll use an external Google Map, rather than a custom one living on your site, which is why it asks for an iframe URL.

Unfortunately it looks like the theme was built in an inflexible way, and makes too many assumptions about how it’s going to be used. It should have built that footer area to hold Widgets that you can customize with whatever you want, but instead it just hard-coded a contact form and map.

There may be some ways around that, but they’d be specific to the theme, so the best person to ask is the theme developer.

Thanks Ian – I think I will just stick with my current theme as love your custom map!
