Hi Alexandru, Still love he ease of using your plugin. The GPX files load correctly and show when I preview the post. The map also shows when I go the post from the summary page (plugin) and from the sidebar menue ‘newest articles/hikes. However the map doesn’t show when I go to the post from the sidebar menue archives for month and region. This is possibly not an issue with the plugin, but maybe you can have a look and give me an idea as to how to fix this?
    Thanks, Edith

Hi Alexandru, the issue seems to be that certain widgets (such as Archive) do not display the map. I found a work-around by creating a page which shows a list of all posts (hikes in my case). Once a post is selected from the list and opened for viewing the map also shows up. Perfect!

Hello Edith, sorry for being a bit absent, but after the months-long lockdown I’ve been mostly out and about, work schedule notwithstanding. Anyway, I’ve been looking around your website and was wandering, is this the kind of archive page your were having issues with? https://sonntagswandern.de/2020/07/
If so, the trip summary viewer will only get displayed when on the post details page, not on any kind of listings (yet).
If not, do you have a sample page (or sequence of pages that I should follow) that illustrate the issue, because I’d like to get to the bottom of this.

    Regards,
    Alex.

Hi Alexandru, so nice to hear from you! I created 4 screenshots which I could send to your e-mail account.
Alternatevely, you can see the issue by viewing the following:
    1) View post from front summary page – map shows
    2) view same post by selecting the month or region drop down list on the right side of the page, click through to the post and the map does not show.
    3) view content view page (at the top of the front page) and see all posts created so far
    4) select a post from the list and double click – and presto the map shows again
Hope this desription makes sense and thanks for your help.

    Hi Edith,

I went through the steps and produced some files, which you can find over here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gt5pH5EnM0IXwpY6s0rq4WUnWwlylHU4?usp=sharing. They can be viewed online as well as being downloaded.

I am assuming that what happens to you is what’s recorded in wpts-sonntag-investigation-1.gif (browsing https://sonntagswandern.de/category/bergisches-land/) and the issue is the one highlighted in wpts-sonntag-investigation-2.png. Is this so?

I can see that the archive pages (per-region as well as per-month) present one entire post per page (1, 2 etc.). However, WP-Trip-Summary looks at the current page and only activates itself when on the actual post details page (for instance, https://sonntagswandern.de/schloss-tuernich-muehle-und-schloss-gymnich-28-september-2019/), so it won’t work on archive pages, even if the entire post content is displayed, thus rendering the issue you described.

I sort of designed it this way from the very beginning with plans to properly display maps in listing pages as well in a future version. Initially I planned this about 2 versions from the current one, but I’ll try and switch things over and do it earlier. So, anyway, thanks for bringing this up, helps me see what other people need of this plugin.

    All the best,
    Alex.

Hi Alex, yes your description is exactly how the maps appear on the posts. Thank you so much for looking into this issue and for providing this Plugin. Wish you much success with all your projects,
    Edith
