map pins

As some members do not renew, we remove them from the directory, it seems that the locations do not get removed from the map right away. Is there something else to do, or could I be looking at a cached page?
Thanks!Bill

Any update here please?
RE: Any update here please?
I apologize for my delayed reply; I try to keep logged off during the weekend.
RE: we remove them from the directory, it seems that the locations do not get removed from the map right away.
I see you are using a page cache/optimization plugin. When you make changes to the directory and/or map, do you also clear the page cache?
When you remove an entry from the directory, how is that accomplished? Deleting it, marking it unlisted?
Hi Steven,
Thanks, I’m glad you stay out of here over the weekend! Totally get it.
Pretty sure I cleared the cache, but will double check. I have deleted the locations, not ‘delisted’.
BillWhen you can, please let me know what next step is to have deleted locations not show on the map. I have cleared cache on that page, as well as on WP Rocket. Sincere thanks!
Question … is the Connections Integration enabled, or did you, by chance, use the Go Maps Import feature? If it was the latter, you must delete the Go Map pins. The way to know is to edit the map in Go Maps and scroll to the “Edit existing Markers” section under the General Settings tab. If no markers are listed, then the Connections Integration is being used. If markers are listed, check for the pin you want deleted and delete it if it exists.
I hope this helps; please let me know.
ps. If no markers are listed in Go Maps and the Connections Integration is enabled, and pins are not removed when the entry is deleted in Connections, it is possible that Go Maps caches map pin data. I am not aware if it does or not. I’ll have to investigate its code … but when testing, I do not experience this issue on the demo map.
Thanks! I’ll work on this and report back – have a great day!
Bill
Steven,
There are no pins showing in GoMaps general settings, do not see ‘edit existing markers’ any tap in GoMaps.
So, I guess that leaves with the possibility that Go Maps caches map data, please see image showing “LaRochelle Auto Body”, which has been deleted from the Connections data under; manage.

Please let me know what I can do next, sincere thanks!

I looked at the Go Maps code and saw nothing that stands out as a persistent cache.
Are you using database object caching? This caches database query results. I think WP Rocket has that feature, as do many web hosts in their control panel.
Steven,
I do not see that setting in WP Rocket, but have opened a support ticket with WP Rocket, and will also contact my host Liquid Web now. I’ll follow up.
Thanks,Bill
Here’s a link from WP Rocket that might help:
Good Morning Steven,
This from WP Rocket
=========Hi Bill,
Will from WP Rocket here. Thanks for contacting the support
I apologize for the trouble you are having with this and thank you for the details about the case.
To further troubleshoot the issue, I performed a test of your site by accessing it with the ?nowprocket parameter, which bypasses WP Rocket’s caching and optimization features. When comparing the map page at https://aaspma.org/map/ with and without caching enabled, I did not observe any differences in the number of locations displayed. This suggests that WP Rocket’s caching is not the potential cause of missing or inaccurate locations on the map. Additional testing may be needed to identify what could be affecting the map data.
Maybe you have changed something during this time?
In any case, I will be waiting for your comments on this! – I’m here to help ??Best,
Will

This from Liquid Web:
Please be informed that the object cache is a server-side caching method that keeps database query results on the server. I could see there is ‘Memcached’ object cache running on your server. Memcached is popular for database query results caching, session caching, web page caching, API caching, and caching of objects such as images, files, and metadata. Please let us know if you wish to flush the cache of it.
========I have requested Liquid Web to flush Memcached, I will post here when I learn that this is done.
Thanks,
Bill
Update: Liquid Web has cleared that Memcached, pins still showing on map. I have cleared all caching – any direction to next steps will be appreciated.
Thanks,Bill
Hmmm… this is definitively a puzzle. I just tested again on several different sites on different hosts, and in all instances, deleting an entry, the pin no longer showed on the map.
Let try this…
Create a new map in Go Maps, enable the Connections integration, and embed that new map into a test page.
Does the “LaRochelle Auto Body” pin display on the new map?
will do
OK, now I’m feeling really stupid, like REALLY stupid.
I went into GoMaps, and now I see all the pins, I just deleted LaRochelle, and it was removed from map right away. I have no idea why I did not see this two days ago when you told me specifically what to look for. Now, I can just delete the pins I need to.
Please forgive me for being so obtuse, all good now.
Bill
