Mapping to Paid Memberships Pro

Is it necessary to map this plugin to a member plugin like Paid Memberships Pro? I saw some member plugin add ons in the dash so I’m assuming that some kind of mapping must occur between member plugins and this comment plugin. I like the plugin but I don’t have any budget for a pro add on yet. The paid memberships pro is a good membership plugin to get started because it’s free and helpful in starting a new memberbase. But I also like the commenting. Is it needed that they work together to enable both. What happens if they are not integrated?
