    Hi everybody.

As you may know, recently Google announced changes to the Google Maps APIs authentication and usage limits. Usage of the Google Maps APIs now requires a key.

    https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

That’s causing issues to many people using this service, as seen in many forums.

For those using the Mappress Easy Google Maps, once you have created your API key (it is quite easy) and set that key in the proper Mappress settings field, you may find that your maps are still not loading, and you get this error message: “Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.”

I got a real headache trying to solve this issue, checked API’s setting many times, change parameters, with no result, until I realized the solution was amazingly easy:

In the Mappress plugin settings page, find the field “Directions server – Enter a google server URL for directions/printing”. If you have “https://maps.google.com” or any other setting different from “https://maps.googleapis.com”, that’s the problem.

You must set it to “https://maps.googleapis.com”, otherwise you will get the Oops! error. Just change it and the maps are up and running.

Maybe this trick works also for those not using Mappress but other plugins.
