!!! MapQuest pulled the plug on free map services !!!!

New options available in 2.0: Add a MapQuest key or use OpenStreetMap (new default free tile service) or other custom tile as was always the case.

Thanks for updating in time. I can confirm that subscribing to MapQuest and entering the provided key works here. We’re a small non-profit foundation using leaflet map to display our local projects, so 15,000 should be fine for us.

One thing I noticed is that the default attribution is now displayed twice – once via plugin and once directly (?) via MapQuest. I deleted the Attribution from the plugin settings and it’s fine now.

Thanks for letting me know! There’s not much I can do about mapquest and their external JavaScript. Did you try resetting everything to default settings to try the OpenStreetMaps tiles? Just curious. thanks again.

No, I didn’t try that, sorry. Since mapQuest works fine with us now (after registration) we’re going to stick with it for now. Nevermind their fancy attribution.

One thing I noticed though is that after updating to the latest version and choosing the new mapQuest tiles in settings I do not get any map or marker shortcodes anymore. The input fields stay blank, no matter where I move the pin. I didn’t change anything on the code base. Is this a known issue?

Not a known issue, no. Also, I can’t reproduce it. Shortcode page seems to work fine for me.

Ok, I managed to solve this issue. Found out the culprit was the Geocoder option in the settings.

Once I changed it to Google Maps, the shortcodes would reappear on the page. Don’t understand why, but maybe this will help out somebody else with the same problem …
