• I had a map embedded, working fine. Since I got my API key that was required, I can not get the plug in to show my address on a map.
I have deactivated and re activated.
This is what I get: Sorry. We can not plot this address. A map will not be displayed. Is the address formatted correctly?
I have tried using different formats, and even a different address, but nothing seems to change that error.
Please advise, as this used to work great, and we loved it!

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@janiebee83 I see that my colleague Lisa is looking into the problem with you; she’ll get back to you soon!

    Hi All,

As noted above I had tried all the steps outline by others in this thread, and would like to thank the Jetpack staff for responding and attempting to help find a solution.

In the process, I believe I have stumbled upon a solution, so I will pass it along for others out there who may be struggling with this:

After a lot of trial and error and what seemed to be a more intricate procedure than necessary, I have a working map in my Jetpack Contact widget on my sydney theme website stantononline.com.
There is indeed a trick to getting this to work once that error comes up.

Step 1. The API key needs to be removed from the widget and saved as is. (The site will load with an error message about API where the map should be now.)
Step 2. The restrictions need to be removed from the key in the Google API Console and set to “none” and saved.
Step 3. Then add the API key back into the widget and save. (Hopefully, you will see a map now on the front end.)
Step 4. Once the widget is working, then go back and enter restrictions as follows *.example.com/* just as they provide in their example. (I used *.stantononline.com/*)
Step 5. Cross your fingers and hope it stays working!

Note: Anytime I went back and modified the widget in any way, I had to repeat this ENTIRE process all over to keep get the widget working again.(For example, I wanted to plot Stanton City Hall location since the actual street address does not come up in the right place on Google Maps–I corrected this on Google Maps previously.)

I know how helpful all these forums have been to me as an amateur and am just hoping to pay it forward.

Thanks for the extra details. We’ll also be reviewing the widget settings on our end, as we should be able to improve things so setting up the widget is a lot easier than this.

UGH! This is clearly NOT what anyone wants to be doing just to get a map to show up when there are many other ways to do it and dealing with the API is already a pain.

Jetpack crew, are y’all working on getting this fixed? I simply tried to update the address for a client whose site I’ve inherited and have stepped in this big pile of goo. Now that I’ve spawned the error, I’m stuck in this time sucking process.

@squidz It looks like we posted at the same time. See my reply above. Yes, that’s definitely something that needs improving, and we’re aware of it!

This probably isn’t the right place for this comment but it was the page I was poking for and it does affect everybody.

The statement says that you must be logged in to comment. OK so far, I’ll just log in then. Oh, no I won’t. There’s no login link on the page. I guess the opinion of iPhone users is probably not worth listening to, so you’ve hidden it from us. Shame on you! We’re an intelligent bunch you know and it only took me a few minutes before I gave up and just searched for the login page.
Well that’s off my chest now it’s over to you, coz I have no idea who to report a MASSIVE issue like this to.

@jon-hart That’s good feedback! At first I didn’t really understand what you were referring to, but I then visited this very thread on my smartphone and understood what you were saying: the admin bar and its “Log In” link are hidden on mobile.

It seems the problem was reported to the www.ads-software.com team a few days ago, and then fixed, but the problem is now back. I’ve reopened the Trac ticket where this issue was originally reported, and you can follow the progress of the www.ads-software.com team there:
