Till now, I’ve been able to create Google map locations, no problem.
This has now just stopped working for all new locations. Google will not return any map data for new locations. Still working OK for all previously created locations.
The API credentials and settings in Google all looks fine, as expected since old locations are still working.
Any suggestions why I cannot create any more new locations?
Is there a limit in the free version?

  • Hello,

Google Maps now requires you to have Billing Information Entered on your Gmail Account. Please make sure that you have those filled-out.

Can you perhaps check if you have any console errors also? When Creating a new Event, Try entering a new address. Then if you’re using Google Chrome. Press F12 and click on Console Tab. Chances are there’s an error there from Google Maps that should be able to tell you what’s causing it.

Yes, I’ve added the required billing information.

Yes, I’ve tried with a new address and checked Chrome console. No errors reported.

One thing Google Cloud Console shows a warning about OAuth ==> “Remember to configure the OAuth consent screen with information about your application.”
I didn’t think API credentials needed this.

    I’ve found a workaround.

If I duplicate an existing location and edit the location details. It works OK.
If I try to Add New , it fails.

    Hello,

Can you perhaps try the following to test for a possible plugin or theme conflict?

    1. Make sure you’re using the latest EM and EM Pro Version (If installed)
    2. Make sure your using at least PHP 7.1
    3. To minimize possible plugin/theme conflict, Could you perhaps try and Install WP Safe Mode (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-safe-mode/)
    – Activate and Enable Safe Mode. Please make sure that on the settings a twenty series theme is selected.
    – When activated it would help you test as if the Website only plugin activated is EM and twentyseries theme
    – After making sure that its working properly, You could start adding additional plugin on the list that is activated and test again until you see which plugin is causing the issue

    Thanks for this suggestion.

    Everything is up-to-date.
Installed WP Safe Mode, switched to TwentyTwenty theme – EM is working perfectly. I can add locations. Great.
Switched back to my normal theme – all OK.
Removed WP Safe Mode and back to original config. All is now working fine!

WHatever happened, the problem is resolved.
