MariaDB Database crash

    Hello,

    i hope somebody can help us ?? Since a few weeks we have problems with some wordpress sites. All use woocommerce as shop.

    The database always hangs up “Waiting for table metadata lock” and i need to go in phpmyadmin and kill the processes so the site works again. Without killing the process the whole site doesent work anymore (loads until loading error)

    I already was in Status > Tools > Pending Actions and controlled all… something strange:

    Some, after my cleaning, created Actions got the planned date “0000-00-00”.

    Hope somebody have a tip for me ??

    Hi @dreilaut!

    It’s hard to say which process is holding the lock, can you give the conflict test a try, please?

    The best way to determine this is to:

    1. Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    2. Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    3. Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated.

    To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing conflict.

    You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    If by chance, you’re still having any issues with that, you may need to query your DB for that specific process.

    I’d recommend checking the WooCommerce Developer Resources Portal for resources on developing for WooCommerce.

    You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack.

    We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

    Hi André a11n,

    thanks for your reply! We have this problem with 3-4 WooCommerce Installations. If i disable the plugin the error don’t appear.

    Last year we changed the Server and get a upgrade to MariaDB – can this be the problem?

    Is it possible to export all Woo-Settings (and Data) and do a new install? I can’t find a Plugin for that…

    We recommend MySQL version 5.6 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.1 or greater.

    its MariaDB 10.5.11. Hoster says its software-fault and not there problem.

    Can you confirm you’ve done the conflict testing? Does the issue persist when you only have WooCommerce and the default Storefront theme enabled?

    Is it possible to export all Woo-Settings (and Data) and do a new install?

    There isn’t a default option to export WooCommerce settings but someone made this feature request on our Ideas Board. Feel free to add your vote(s) to it. The more popular an idea becomes, the more of a priority it is for our developers to review.

    Hi @rainfallnixfig,

    i can’t, because i don’t know which event trigger that error. But i know, i doesent happen if woocommerce is deactivated.

    Yesterday again server get stuck, need to kill process in phpmyadmin so it will run again.

    Hi @dreilaut,

    The first step you would do to resolve issues is the conflict test and we recommend performing it on a staging site instead of your production site. You can use a plugin like WP Staging to duplicate your site: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-staging/.

    Once you’re in a staging environment would you mind taking the following steps?

    1. Temporarily switch to one of our default themes, such as Storefront to ensure that this isn’t a theme compatibility issue. Once you switch themes, can you check and see if everything functions as expected?

    2. If not, we also recommend deactivating all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issue at that point. If it does, then you would need to activate each plugin, one at a time, to see if you can find the conflicting extension/plugin.

    If the issue persists with only Storefront and WooCommerce enabled, then your following step would be logging errors to see if you’re able to locate the culprit. Follow the steps here for debugging in WordPress:
