My online store has a number of downloadable items. Whenever somebody purchases these, they get an email saying the order is being processed with links to the downloads.

The order is then set as “processing” and whenever I mark it as complete, they then get a second email.

Since downloads require no interaction from myself, is there a way to automatically mark all-download orders complete automatically?

Also, my completed order email template says the items have been dispatched. Is there anyway I could create a separate email template for all-download orders?

    Thanks!

  • Make sure you have your items configured as both virtual and downloadable. If both of those are set then the order should automatically change to a completed status on purchase and offer immediate download links as well as send the e-mail.

The e-mail templates are inside the WooCommerce plugin folder in /templates/emails/. You can place a copy of any you want to customize in a /woocommerce/emails/ folder inside your theme and they will override the built-in templates.

    Thanks for your solution, Doug.

I’ve done that now on all downloadable items and orders are marked as completed as desired while still sending emails.

    Dear Doug Smith
    Thanks for the solution
but this is not working on my official site. Is this necessary to copy /woocommerce/emails/ folder in theme folder.
Suggest me to make orders mark automatically.

    Thank you

Rohini, We have been talking about two separate issues with different solutions. You didn’t say exactly what wasn’t working so I’ll try to clarify a bit:

    1. To make downloadable product sales automatically completed, set your products as both virtual and downloadable.

    2. To customize the order e-mails, copy the templates from /wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/templates/emails/ to your theme’s folder in /wp-content/themes/{your_theme_name}/woocommerce/emails/. You will need to create that folder if id doesn’t already exist. Edit the copies in your theme’s folder and they should override the built-in e-mails.

    Thanks for your reply Doug

Actually i have lots of downloadable products which i want to sale on my official website.
I want after buyer payment order should automatically completed. To do manually its not possible all time.
currently I am testing with sandbox account. I followed both steps 1 and 2 which you clarified above.
Sorry to say but its not working for me.
Even i used custom code from here
    https://www.skyverge.com/blog/how-to-set-woocommerce-virtual-order-status-to-complete-after-payment/
    https://docs.woothemes.com/document/automatically-complete-orders/
