For the last couple of days I have been getting a lot of referrals from prod.uhrs.playmsn.com to one of my posts. Since these aren’t really people coming to see my content, I was hoping to hide these views from my stats so I could just see real users. To this end, I marked this referrer as spam. What I didn’t realize though was that I would continue to see all of the views from this referrer, just without seeing a referrer listed. This really didn’t do what I wanted. If I am going to continue to see all the views in my stats, then I would like to know where they are coming from. The problem is that from other threads I don’t see any way that I can mark this referrer as not spam myself, so I’m not sure how to fix this.

    Hi @lyricallanguage,

Can you tell me how you marked the referrals as spam? You should be able to hide such referrals from your Stats by following these step listed on this page:

    https://wordpress.com/support/stats/#marking-spam-referrers

In the link above you’ll also find the way to revert the spam flag and un-mark the referrals.

To help with that, there are also other plugins you may try out to blocking these bots. Here are some examples:

    Hope that answers your question!

    Hi Stef,

Thank you for your response. To mark them as spam I followed the same steps shown in that link. Unfortunately, those instructions do state “However, once you have navigated away from the stats page, you will not be able to undo the action”, which was why I found I couldn’t undo it. So since I changed my mind after navigating away from the page there is just no way to fix this?

Also, thank you for the suggestion of the plugins. I will definitely check them out and see if they help. Aside from just being irritating, this traffic is also really messing with my trending pages.

I was able to find this blocked referrer in our system, and I removed it from your blocked referrer settings.

Let us know when you need us.
