Mask Phone Number

I haven’t used the Zoom call-in outside of testing a few days ago. In the testing then, their system prompted for the meeting id and then a user id if I recall.

What are the prompts today for phone calls? Are they standardized?

We’re talking about the one-tap mobile links. I don’t think Zoom can provide an encrypted number to include the password like it can do for the URL. That’s what I was wondering about.

I tried the call in manually earlier. Was prompted for meeting ID (then press #), prompted for Participant ID (we have none), and then prompted for password (which I entered). I think it’s crazy to put the password in the notes section on a public website. It’s akin to locking your door, but then leaving your keys in the lock outside the door.

Masking the phone to say “Join by phone” is pretty straightforward. I expect it to be in the next release. But understand it is false security. Anyone can inspect an element on a website and the dialing sequence is revealed. It will still deter the casual observer, but that is all.

Frankly, I’m more concerned about how to implement the dialing prompts so the password gets included. Hence my question above.

In the big picture, the only way I’ve really come up with to protect the password and meeting id information is for website to have users (AA or other program members) create accounts and only reveal meeting lists to them. That isn’t very realistic.

Anyway, thought I’d ramble for a moment. Maybe some good ideas will come out.

That is also my question. I have no idea how to implement the dialing prompts other than put the directions someplace — something like:

Dial-in (audio only) 646-558-8656 or 301-715-8592. Meeting ID: 123 456 789# Password: 123456789#

I am not comfortable putting passwords online.

And yes, I know the mask is not very good – as you mentioned, inspect the element and you will see the full URL with the password (though it is encrypted).
