Mass Deleting of Posts

I would export the database, the save a copy of everything on the server. That gives you the ‘history’ which you could recreate any time if needed.

Then delete the database.
Then make a database

Then run install again.
This will give you a clean database for the next class but will keep all the plugins / themes / other changes you may have made. It could generate some errors though depending on the plugins, but they will need dealing with seperately.

You may need / want to delete any images folders and suchlike.

Could that be an option ?

Thanks Podz, that should/could work, will it help if I deactivate the plugins first?

I saw some references to archiving hacks, but most of them either didn’t do what I wanted or are no longer available. Any suggestions? We’d be fine with keeping the content if it wasn’t “in the way,” LOL!

Why not just use WordPress MU? Then everyone can have there own WordPress install to play with each and every lesson ??

Two possibilities:

1. if you have DB space to waste, start a new DB or use a new table prefix. keep all the template stuff, just repoint the db, restart a wp config for it. Then your old stuff is always still around, and could be accessed if needed.
2. you can from SQL admin tools flush items from the various tables (the way I’d likely do it), but that gets a bit more complex.
3. you could probably come up with a way to ‘hide’ items from normal viewing that are additionally tagged with an ‘archival’ category, so only selecting the ‘archival’ cat somewhere would list those posts — otherwise they’d be hidden. Not sure if an existing plugin will do this, but should be small coding.
